Set up Brand Brain with useful source material
Start with a correct description of your offer, a few clear writing preferences and current source documents. Brand Brain gives Solocial context for drafting. Your first check is whether that context is accurate, not how much material you can add.
This guide covers updating an existing brand from Brand. During onboarding, the related steps are Business basics and Voice & design.
Review the voice before adding more sources
Open Brand and find Voice. Read each description alongside the evidence shown beneath it. Does it describe how you want to communicate, or simply how one old post happened to sound?
Click the wording you want to change, edit it, then click outside the field. Choose Save voice changes. If the button is unavailable, check that you have actually changed the text and left the editing field.
Prefer a direction you can recognize in a draft. For example, “Explain the practical detail before introducing the offer” gives you something to check. “Be engaging” is harder to apply consistently. This is an illustrative writing preference; choose directions that fit your business.
Saving a preference is not a reason to trust every resulting sentence. Keep checking facts separately from voice.
Give the business a concrete description
Under In your own words, work through the four prompts:
- What do you sell? Name the offer and explain what is included. Include important exclusions.
- Who is it for? Describe the situation your customer is in, without adding private customer details.
- What makes you different? Give a distinction you can substantiate. You do not need to make an unsupported claim about a competitor.
- What would you never say or do? State claims, tones or tactics you want to avoid.
Save each answer using its own Save button. Use Anything else and Add note for material the prompts do not cover.
Non-empty notes need between 40 and 3,000 characters. If a button is unavailable, read the character guidance beside it. Expand a note that lacks enough detail, or move a long source into a document. Clearing a saved answer is a separate choice: an empty field offers Clear.
An illustrative note for a design studio could say:
Our identity package includes a logo, a color palette and a short usage guide. Website design is a separate service. Explain that distinction when describing the package; do not imply that the website is included.
That boundary is more useful to a writer than a long list of positive adjectives.
Upload documents you would trust a colleague to use
Find What your company knows, then choose Upload a document. Supported files are PDF, Word .docx, plain text .txt and Markdown .md, up to 4 MB.
Use current product sheets, price lists or explanations of your services. Remove outdated or confidential material before uploading it. A document should be useful source material for public content, not a place to store everything your business knows.
Wait for the reading result. The document list shows passage counts after material has been processed. If you see Still reading — refresh in a moment, refresh later and check the list before uploading the same file again. If the file could not be read, follow the error message; do not assume selecting a file made its contents available.
When replacing an outdated document, use Remove on the old entry and upload the current version. A new upload does not replace the old source automatically. Check that the list now contains the version you intended to keep.
Check the next draft against the material
When a new draft is available, compare it with the sources you just supplied:
- Does it describe the actual offer and its limits?
- Does it follow the writing preference you changed?
- Has it added a claim, price or example you did not provide?
Correct the draft before publishing. If the source itself was vague or wrong, fix that too. Do not assume changing Brand Brain rewrites a draft that is already waiting for review.
